Emeryville is a vibrant, growing city situated at the hub of the San Francisco Bay Area. Over 200,000 people pass through our 1.2 square miles daily on the three major freeways which converge with the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge at the southern end of Emeryville. Over the past 15 years, Emeryville has experienced a metamorphosis from a heavily industrial-laden manufacturing community to a diverse, dynamic cultural center consisting of biotech, retail, office complexes, entertainment, and much more, giving rise to the moniker "the little city that can."
The men and women of our Department pride themselves on providing a level of service that is unsurpassed. The Police Department and the Emeryville community have been forging a partnership to attack quality of life issues long before this style of policing was given the name Community Policing. The city's small resident population of 10,570 (which rises to 40,000 during the day) and its small physical size naturally enhance our ability to personally get to know the community we serve.
It is through the dedication and caring by our people to the community we serve that has led us to adopt the motto "our strength is our people." We are proud that in a core urban environment we are working with our community to make Emeryville a safe place to live, work, and play.
