The City of Emeryville is one of many cities in the United States and other countries using red-light cameras to target red-light runners. Emeryville's first camera system was installed in March 2004 at the intersection of Powell and Christie. Emeryville now has a total of 3 red-light camera systems in operation. The following intersections are currently equipped with red-light cameras:
Christie Avenue at Powell Street
Horton Street at 40th Street
Hollis Street at 40th Street
Violators will receive a citation with a copy of the photographs, as well as, a courtesy notice from the court. A convicted red light violation will have a penalty of one point on your driving record. Traffic school is an option for those who have not attended in the last eighteen months (from the date of violation) or possess a commercial driver’s license. If you have received a red light citation at a photo enforced intersection, you can view your photos/video for sixty days from the date of violation by going to www.photonotice.com, enter city code EMY. Please note that the version of the video which is available on the website is the same in content as what can be viewed at the police department. It is simply compressed for viewing online for different video viewers and to prevent downloading/tampering.
Please call (510) 596-3726 or (510) 596-3723 to schedule an appointment at the Emeryville Police Department to view the photos and video. These are scheduled by appointment only.
