Location and Building
The Life Sciences Complex (located along Stanford Ave. and Hollis St.) was approved by the Planning Commission in 1995. The master plan includes a 14-building complex containing over two million sq. ft. of research and office space, which will be completed over the next 30 years.
Construction was completed on the first building in 1998. The architect behind the boldly-colored buildings is the renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, who also created the designs for the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose and the Mexican Art Museum in San Francisco.
Significant improvements have been made to other buildings in the campus, including the construction of a new parking facility.
