Programs

The division oversees the implementation of programs necessary to the growth and development of the city:
  • Economic Development
  • Housing
  • Public Art
The successful integration of each program builds a dynamic, vital city serving all of its residents.
The department is also responsible for overseeing the dissolution of redevelopment by continuing to implement the remaining obligations of the Redevelopment agency

Economic Development

The Department implements the city’s Economic Development Strategy approved in October 2017. The Strategy provides a framework and prioritization for the deployment of the City's economic development resources, with an aim to leverage Emeryville's competitive advantage as a City of Art and Innovation.  The Strategy addresses a wide range of topics including Infrastructure and Transportation, Marketing and Promotion, Community Advancement, and Organization and Network Building.

Affordable Housing Program

The goal of the city’s Affordable Housing Program is to Increase housing choice to home buyers and renters at all income levels by facilitating the development of market rate and affordable housing units, providing program funding and management, and coordinating homeless and fair housing services
Eviction and Harassment Protection for Emeryville Residents

Public Art Program

The goal of the city’s Public Art Program is to develop innovative public art through strategic collaboration with artists, city departments, and local and regional arts organizations and businesses. The city has an extensive public art collection and actively acquires public art.

Grant Funded Capital Development Projects

The EDH Division assists the City realize its top infrastructure improvement goals through managing grants and design development of projects funded by grants. Such grant funded activities currently managed by EDH staff included the Transit Center and the Emeryville Greenway. For more information on the Emeryville Greenway click here.
