A $500,000 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant is being used to remove arsenic and hexavalent chromium contamination in soil on a portion of a future greenway site located behind 5701 Hollis Street between Powell Street to Stanford Avenue.

Draft Site Cleanup Plan (SCP)
Technical Appendix, and
Summary Fact Sheet have been prepared and are available for public comment. The plan proposes soil removal and offsite transport to appropriate landfill facilities via truck. The action is expected to be completed over just as few weeks.
Public Hearing
A Public Hearing was held at 6 p.m. October 3, 2012, at the City Council Chambers in the Emeryville City Hall at:

The hearing offered the public an opportunity to hear the work described in the SCP, ask any questions about the proposed remediation work, and raise concerns. No comments or concerns were raised. Remediation is anticipated to be initiated in winter 2012/ 2013.
