[ARCHIVED] Emeryville Residents Can Participate in Vehicle Incentive Programs

Clean Cars for All

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is offering Emeryville residents two different incentive programs that work to "early retire" older light-duty vehicles. The Vehicle Buy-Back Program is open to all Bay Area vehicle owners while "Clean Cars for All" helps qualifying low income drivers to upgrade their car to a cleaner vehicle or to an alternative mobility option.

Vehicle Buyback Program

This program does not have any income criteria and allows all owners of an operable, Bay Area DMV-registered, and smog-compliant 1997 or older vehicle to participate.  Owners are paid $1200 to “early-retire” their vehicle at one of the participating dismantling yards under contract to the Air District.

For more information about this program, visit www.BAAQMD.gov/vbb.

Clean Cars for All Program

This scrap and replace program provides incentive funding to qualifying owners of 2005 model year and older vehicles to pay them to upgrade to a new or used clean vehicle (hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric or fuel cell) or transit pass, or e-b-bike).  This program is for income-eligible residents (<400% of the FPL), living in disadvantaged Bay Area communities.
