Mayor John Bauters and the City of Emeryville have been selected from a pool of national candidates to join the inaugural cohort of the Mayors Institute on Pedestrian Safety. The Mayors Innovation Project and its project partners selected the nine mayors based on their existing commitment to and vision for pedestrian safety.
Participating mayors will have the opportunity to share their own successes nationally while receiving training and resources from top experts in the field to make immediate safety improvements on their most dangerous streets, along with support to develop implementation plans for longer-term, systemic changes. The program is a collaboration between the Mayors Innovation Project, AARP, and Smart Growth America.
