The Oakland Coliseum mass vaccination site closed Sunday, May 23, after the site's last scheduled appointment. The site's operation began as a State and Federal partnership between Cal OES and FEMA. In mid-April, the State and the Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa extended the site's operations.
The site functioned as a hub and spoke model, with a large stationary site at the Coliseum and multiple mobile units that went out into the community each day. At the peak, 6,000-8,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered per day.
